They Aren't Statistics, They Are Women

In Mexico, 6 out of 10 women are victims of some form of violence in the workplace, school, community, or family. Impunity for such violence, including sexual abuse and femicide, is widespread.

Although it has created a legal framework to eradicate violence against women in the country, every day there are still about 7 more women murdered. In 2014 alone, 2,289 women’s deaths were presumed to be homicides. Usually, these cases are not adequately investigated and therefore those responsible are not punished.

Public policies to prevent violence and femicide have not been comprehensive, and have no real accountability. Although government officials express their concern in speeches, in practice no changes are observed.

The inaction of the authorities is complicity.  Sign this petition today and demand immediate action to combat femicidehttp://alzatuvoz.org/vivanlasmujeres/
